“I help writers with stories on their hearts get them on the page with clarity and intention.”
I have this on a post-it note beside my desk. It is the north star of all of the work that I do, whether here in this newsletter, one-on-one with clients, or in my role as the writing community coordinator at the bookstore.
I believe deeply in the power of stories, of your stories. I’ve been changed by stories I’ve read, and I’ve seen that change happen over and over in others.
I also know how painful it can be to have a story to share that remains unwritten. In my experience, it’s not unlike carrying a weighted pack around while beating myself up about not just putting it down.
This is why I do this work.
Those of you who have been around since the beginning know that my efforts toward this goal have changed and evolved over the past eight years. I had a podcast that became a YouTube channel, which then went away. I’ve refined my coaching offers. I’ve moved to Substack. Within Substack, my offers for paid subscribers (thank you!) have ranged from monthly coffee chats to webinars to book clubs as I tried to sort out what methods would support the most people and allow me space to continue to grow as a writer and coach and human.
The truth is I like change. I thrive in change. When I was growing up, especially after my parents split, we moved around a lot. I’ve changed jobs. I’ve changed hairstyles. My husband has come home to see our living room furniture rearranged many times.
But I do recognize that this can cause a certain type of whiplash for kind folks like you, who just want to know what the fluffernutter is going on.
And so, I’m going to tell you!
Here is what you can expect from me:
FREE: Weekly posts about story foundations, writers mindset, and stories from around these parts, just like usual!
FREE: Occasional Conversations with Writers live videos with replays available. (Check out this one and this one.)
With a $5/month paid subscription, you can also expect:
Access to the Groundwork for a Story - a full library of prompts and strategies to help you create a solid story that will impact your reader. I‘ll begin to build this this month, and send out one post per week to paid subscribers until it’s complete! These are the tools that I use with my one-on-one clients.
Opportunities for one-on-one coaching and writerly community through pop-up coaching and quarterly six-week cohorts (at no extra cost!) The first cohort is set to begin in July with a focus on building writing habits that stick. I’ll let you know when it’s starting!
And, as a thank you: 10% off of my one-on-one coaching services, whenever you’re ready for them.
So that’s what you can expect for the foreseeable future. I hope you find it all useful as you write your stories.
And I want to say again how much I appreciate you staying on this ride with me. Heaps and buckets and oodles of gratitude and love.
I’ll see you next week with the first of the Groundwork posts and my regular newsletter.
Warmly,
Stephanie
I like change too. My wife on the other hand, does not. So I embrace it where I can. Congrats on the new model! I’m looking forward to (continuing to) work with you. ❤️
