Thanks to those who attended live! Today’s question and my thoughts:
How do I know if my story is good enough?
There is no such thing. Writing is subjective.
Work on this mindset. Recognize that the question is coming from fear that it isn’t good enough. Can you set that fear aside?
Are you writing a first draft? Don’t expect it to be good. This is why it’s called the first draft.
Identify specific skills that you would like to improve. (For me, setting description is always a bugger.) Find resources to help you practice that specific skill outside of your current story, then apply the new learning to your project.
Get another set of objective eyes on your work (but not while writing the first draft!)
Practice believing that it is good enough. Seriously. Say it out loud until you believe it.
